Applied Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

Our experts in this domain focus on research and the application of algorithms and techniques that support intelligent decision making and interactions. Specific Institute expertise include deep learning, natural language processing, ambient computing, and computer vision.

Robotics, Mechatronics and Autonomous Systems

Robotics is how AI interacts with the world. Our researchers design new mechatronic devices, robotic machines, and autonomous systems that have applications from intelligent manufacturing, modern transportation, mining, construction, and security to household automation, healthcare, and universal accessibility.

Intelligent Sensors and Actuators

Researchers with expertise in Intelligent Sensors and Actuators focus on the creation and seamless integration of sensors and actuators into intelligent human-machine systems that understand and interact with the world around us.

Human-Machine Systems

Researchers who work on Human-Machine Systems focus on understanding and enhancing the naturally complex interactions between humans and machines by designing and developing interfaces that optimize learning, performance, and task execution through the use of intelligent and adaptive technologies.

Facilitated by a generous donation from Mr. Bruce Mitchell, Ingenuity Labs brings together researchers from across our campus in order to foster innovative research, education, collaborations and partnerships with industry, communities, and the world around three main themes:

  • Smart Environments and Infrastructure
  • Human Sensing and Assistive Devices
  • Intelligent Mobile Systems
