How to Join

Are you interested in joining the ADVENTOR Program?

Trainees

Natural Sciences and Engineering (NSE) and non-NSE graduate level (MSc or PhD) students are invited to take an interdisciplinary approach to learning, teaching, and robotics!

Anyone who is interested in studying and solving challenges regarding robots in human-occupied spaces should review the following information:

Prospective ADVENTOR Trainees must:

  • Have a confirmed member of the ADVENTOR team as their primary supervisor.
  • Have a confirmed ADVENTOR team member or ADVENTOR Collaborator as a co-supervisor.
    • New collaborations are possible if the potential co-supervisor is interested in joining the ADVENTOR Program as a collaborator.
    • Co-supervisors are encouraged but optional for non-funded applications.
  • Both the proposed primary supervisor and co-supervisor(s) must be in support of the application.
  • The proposed research must align with ADVENTOR's research aims and objectives (i.e., Robots in the City and/ or Robots in the Home).
  • The proposed research must be initiated during the specified academic year.
  • Be willing and able to complete all graduate degree requirements alongside ADVENTOR training requirements.

The ADVENTOR Program welcomes applications from students interested in joining ADVENTOR as either non-funded or funded trainees.

  • Non-funded applications: Regardless of funding, ADVENTOR trainees will participate equally in the program training elements. Non-funded applicants may hold external awards (i.e., no funding from ADVENTOR).
  • Funded applications: Stipend funding is associated with this award, which will be paid as part of the funding package from the primary research supervisor. This award cannot be held in conjunction with another national scholarship (e.g., NSERC CGRS).
    • Stipend and non-stipend ADVENTOR funding are subject to each institution's own rules and regulations. They are also only valid for the duration of the degree requirements (e.g., max of two years for MSc, max of four years for PhD), so long as the ADVENTOR Program requirements are being met by the trainee (awardee).
