ADVENTOR Trainees

Talia Cameron is a PhD Candidate in Philosophy at the University of Ottawa and the Policy Research Lead at the Canadian Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Ethical Design Lab (CRAiEDL) under the supervision of Dr. Jason Millar, and Dr. Matthew Pan. Her research focuses on the ethics of AI and robotics in the context of climate change. 

Eric Godden is a PhD student at Queen's University in the Machine Intelligence and Human-Robot Interaction Laboratory (MltHRIL), under the supervision of Dr. Matthew Pan. He is working on human-robot interaction and immersive virtual experiences. Topics of interest include safe robotic control strategies for the application of physical human-robot interaction, encountered-type haptics for delivering realistic haptic stimuli into virtual reality applications, and virtual reality applications that facilitate novel immersive experiences.

Geoffrey Hanks is a PhD Student at the University of Waterloo in the Active and Interactive Robotics Lab, working under the supervision of Dr. Yue Hu, and Dr. Daniele Pucci (IIT). His research is focused on tactile and forced based learning and control for robotic manipulators in data limited tasks. 

Hisham Khalil is a PhD Candidate at the University of Waterloo in the Active and Interactive Robotics Lab, under the supervision of Dr. Yue Hu and Dr. Hsiu-Chin Lin. Hisham also works as a Research Intern at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) in Tokyo, Japan. 

Jenny Lee is a PhD Candidate at Queen's University, working under the supervision of Dr. Amy Wu, and Dr. Matthew Pan. Her research focuses on human-robot interaction and walking with robots.

Matthew Lisondra is a PhD student at the University of Toronto, under the supervision of Dr. Goldie Nejat, and Dr. Amy Wu. He is also a Researcher of Robotics at the University of Toronto Robotics Institute. His research focuses on Robot Perception, Robot Learning, and Computer Vision. 

Ellie Luo is a PhD Student at the University of Waterloo in the Active and Interactive Robotics Lab, working under the supervision of Dr. Yue Hu. Her research is focused on physically assistive robots for in-home caretaking of older adults.

Sina Qahremani is a PhD candidate in Electrical Engineering at Queen's University under the supervision of Dr. Joshua Marshall and Dr. Keyvan Hashtrudi-Zaad. His research interests include Field Robotics, Physical AI, SLAM, and Autonomous Construction Vehicles. 

Nia Ralston is a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Matthew Robertson and Dr. Tong Li (Zhejiang University). Nia specializes in humanoid and soft robotics, focusing on the mechanics of robotic walking. 

Ashkan Rashvand is a PhD Candidate at Queen's University, under the supervision of Dr. Keyvan Hashtrudi-Zaad and Dr. Vincent DePaul. He also serves on the ADVENTOR Program Committee as a student representative. 

Caileigh Bates is a Master's student at McGill University, under the supervision of Dr. James Forbes, and Dr. Joshua Marshall. 

Tyler Chung is an MASc student at the University of Waterloo at the Active and Interactive Robotics Lab, under the supervision of Dr. Yue Hu, and Dr. Amy Wu. His research is focused on personal goal navigation.

Eden Hauser-Krupat is an MASc Candidate at Queen's University, working under the supervision of Dr. Matthew Robertson, and Dr. Amy Wu. He is also a Graduate Researcher with the Novel Engineering & Robotic Devices (NERD) Research Lab. 

Simon Li is a Master's student at McGill University, working under the supervision of Dr. Hsiu-Chin Lin and Dr. Goldie Nejat.

Brooke MacNeil is an MASc student at Queen's University in the Interactive Robotics and Intelligent Systems (IRIS) group, under the supervision of Dr. Keyvan Hashtrudi-Zaad. Her research is focused on AI-based compensatory movement detection for home-based post-stroke rehabilitation. 

Tony Morales is an MASc candidate in Mechanical Engineering, under the supervision of Dr. Matthew Robertson, and Dr. Xian Wang. Tony also holds a B.Eng in Mechatronics and Robotics from Queen's University.

Yusen Qiu is an MASc student with Offroad Robotics at Queen's University, under the supervision of Dr. Joshua Marshall, Dr. Neil Hoult, and Dr. Joshua Woods. 

Eric Sass is an MASc student at Queen's University, supervised by Dr. Matthew Robertson and Dr. Xian Wang. His research is focused on underwater robots for invasive species control.
